Halian Professional Services Helps Telco Get up to Speed on Oracle HRMS
Introduction
Halian were selected to upgrade an Oracle HRMS environment for a leading
pan-European Telecoms organisation. The company is now
able to access the latest information on all of their people, as well
as produce a variety of management reports on demand.
Background The company had an existing Oracle HR instance which supported their
internal human resources function. Having acquired other companies a
significant amount of the data was found to be out-of-date. Other
issues involved the systems not reflecting current company structure
and not meeting reporting requirements from both the company and a
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) perspective.
Following the tendering process, the Telco asked Halian to implement
the upgrade and re-configure the application to deliver the required
changes to its HR system.
“Halian
came up with a sensible costing for the project and also involved their
delivery people early in the process, which gave me confidence in their
ability to deliver”, said the client sponsor.
Solution
Successfully delivering an Oracle HRMS solution at the Telco involved
addressing key technical and business issues resulting in the organisation
receiving a robust HR environment with a single view of HR activities and a rich reporting capability.
Additional plans are to support recruitment, learning, compensation,
performance management, and provide further real time analytics. The
Telco were able to ‘own’ the solution and had the ability to make
use
of existing in house skills.
A core activity was to deliver training to key staff in
application administration and to advise best practice within the HR
department. Halian trained a number of technical staff in writing
Discoverer 4.1 views for reporting as well as the API’s required for
data conversion.

Outcomes/Benefits
Halian completed the project within the agreed timescales and to
budget. The HR department is now able to work more effectively and
efficiently supported by the new system and processes. This Oracle HRMS
solution enables the HR team to deliver business information in a timely manner.
The Client confirmed that “The
system now allows us to operate
in a more efficient way and enables us to focus our value added HR
services rather then just deal with administrative tasks”.
Upon successful delivery, Halian secured a multi-year support contract
for the application.
